Cucumber and Sprouts Salad This is a wonderful salad and has been one of my breakfast items on many days from almost 10 years. This salad is rich in protein and very simple to make. This can be eaten as evening snack as well. I have mentioned its health benefits at the end of this post. Ingredients 1 small size cucumber 10 big fist green gram sprouts Freshly grated coconut 1 cup 1 small lemon Salt and pepper (optional) Method of preparation: Wash sprouts and soak in drinking water over night. Wash soaked green gram around 8 to 10 times to remove the smell and place it in the sprout box and leave it for 8 to 10 hours. Alternatively you can use cloth to tie the gram. This will also give out good sprouts. Keep grated raw coconut, lemon, cucumber and sprouts ready.   Wash cucumber well and grate it. You can even cut it into small pieces, but I prefer to grate it so t...

All about my Recipes..

I am blessed to be born in India with an endless taste for food. Except for non-vegetarian food I have tasted wide variety of food preparations which includes the styles of South India like Udupi, Mysore, Mandya, North Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and some of North Indian, few of Chinese and Italian too.. I used to have a great appetite 8 to 10 years back. With age it has diminished a bit, but still I appreciate and enjoy wide variety of preparations in smaller quantities.  I keep trying these styles of cooking on my husband. He is a very good critic when it comes to taste and I always tell my in-laws that if their son gives me a certificate, I don’t need from anyone!! Believe me it is not at all easy to get appreciation from my husband, he gets into minute details of taste and gives his judgement. It is making me a better cook day by day. I enjoy a lot, cooking wide variety of dishes for him because he enjoys eating good tasty food. Because of m...

However, when we don’t know from where to start “we have to start from where we are and make it a starting point!!”  I am involved in cleaning work at home now, so I thought I can start with a topic, “Cleansing our Body”. Coincidentally, this would be the apt topic because before we decorate our house we have to first clean it! Same thing applies to the body. When it comes to cleansing, I have seen people usually talking about medicines and herbs like ginger, cumin, coriander, turmeric, lemon etc., but often I feel a lot of us miss 2 important elements. Can you take a guess what are they? They are “Water” and “Air”!! Let’s first discuss how water helps in detoxification. No doubt herbs, juices help clean...
